Have you ever wondered how Halloween began and who  started the eccentric practices which evolved into our celebrations today? Let's explore local and global customs and traditions that make Halloween what it is today -and why it's so much fun. What is Halloween? Halloween is an ancient festival, which has its roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain (Sah-ween), when the Celts (ancient inhabitants of Great Britain) celebrated their New Year. They believed that on that day souls of those who had died progressed to the underworld. It was said to be the night when ghosts, demons and witches roamed the earth and people tried to placate them with offerings of nuts and berries. Nowadays these offerings are more likely to be the Mars Bars and Snickers given out to children trick or treating. Past Simple is one the basic tenses you should know if you want to communicate in English freely. Yes, this is one of these tenses British people really use in everyday life :) Let's start with verb 'to be' in Past Simple, which is troublesome for many foreigners. We use going to to say what we want to/intend to do in the future. Contrary to Present Continuous used to express future plans, going to is used for less specific plans. We intend to do something but we haven't taken any effort to make it happen. *** In the summer I'm going to go to Spain. >>> going to Latem zamierzam jechać do Hiszpanii. (Means that I plan to go to Spain, but it is not certain at all yet.) In the summer I'm going to Spain. >>> Present Continuous Latem jadę do Hiszpanii. (Much more likely that I will go to Spain,I might have booked the holiday.) *** We are going to make a party this ...
