'Who is he?' - TO BE in the present

Today's lesson is about verb 'to be' again but this time we're going to focus on another type of questions. In the previous post I mentioned a bit of 2 main types of questions: yes/no and wh- questions. If you don't remember what yes/no questions are or how we make them, click here

Dzisiejsza lekcja dotyczy czasownika 'być', ale tym razem skupimy sie na pytaniach innego typu. W poprzednim poście wspomnialam, ze istnieją 2 glówne typy pytan - tak/nie i zaczynajace sie od pytajnikow. Jeśli nie pamietasz czym są pytania tak/nie i jak je tworzyc, kliknij w różowy link powyżej.

yes/no questions

Is she from Paris?
Yes, she is.

wh- questions

Where is she from?
She's from France.

Wh- questions begin with QUESTIONS WORDS such as:

Pytania te zaczynają się od pytajników, takich jak:

Because most questions words have wh letters at the beginning, these questions are usually called 'Wh-questions'.

What time is it?
What is your hobby?

Where is my bag?
Where are you from?

When is the meeting?
When am I?

Why are you here?
Why is he angry with me?

Which colour do you prefer: blue or green?
Which baby is yours?

Who is she?
Who are the people over there?

Whose shoes are they?

How is your wife?
How much is the sausage?

When building this kind of questions we can't forget about the inversion - we must change the order of a subject and a verb.

Budując takie pytania musimy pamietać o inwersji, czyli zamianie miejscami podmiotu z orzeczeniem. O inwersji pisalam już w poście z różowego linku ;)

Wh-questions

Who is the woman in the photo?
She's a top model.

How much is that backpack?
It's £10.

Which shape are you, girls? ;)
