'Does it make sense?' - Present Simple

Hi there! This post will show you how to make yes/no questions and short answers in Present Simple tense. Of course, yes/no questions are general questions for which we give 'yes' or 'no' answer.
To build a question in Present Simple we need an external operator DO or DOES at the beginning. We put DO with persons: I, you, we and they. We put DOES with she, he and it.

W tym poście dowiecie się jak budować pytania ogólne oraz krótkie odpowiedzi (tak/nie) w czasie Present Simple. Aby zbudowac takie pytanie potrzebujemy zewnętrznego operatora DO lub DOES. DO stosujemy z osobami: I, you, we i they, a DOES  z she, he oraz it.

DO + subject (I/you/we/they) + verb + .......?

Do I look good?

Yes, you do.
or
No, you don't.

Do you drive?

Yes, I do.
or
No, I don't.

Do we work on Monday?

Yes, you do.
or
No, you don't.

Do you own this house?

Yes, we do.
or
No, we don't.

Do they love pets as we do?

Yes, they do.
or
No, they don't.

DOES + subject (she/he/it) + verb + .......?

Does she like travelling?

Yes, she does.
or
No, she doesn't.

Does Ed Sheeran sing beautifully?

Yes, he does.
or
No, he doesn't.

Does it make sense?

Yes, it does.
or
No, it doesn't.

Now let's take some positive sentences from one of previous posts about Present Simple (you may read the whole post here) and convert them into questions.

Teraz weźmy zdania twierdzące z jednego z poprzednich postów dotyczących Present Simple i zamieńmy je na pytania:

I usually have eggs for breakfast.      >     Do you usually have eggs for breakfast?

They often listen to reggae music.     >      Do they often listen to reggae music?

We occasionally go to the beach.      >     Do you often go to the beach?

Sue and Hannah rarely play computer games.      >      Do Sue and Hannah often play computer games?

I hardly ever watch TV.      >     Do you often watch TV?

You never help me!       >     Do you ever help me?

Notice that in questions with she/he/it we

don't add -s/-es ending to a verb.

Zauważcie, że w pytaniach z osobami she/he/it nie dodajemy do czasownika koncówek -s/-es.

John always gets up at 7.       >      Does John always get up at 7 ?

She normally goes to work by train.       >       Does she normally go to work by train?

Mia sometimes visits her cousin after work.       >      Does Mia sometimes visit her cousin after work.
